A crucial step in supporting tamariki to thrive is teaching parents essential life and parenting skills so they can better nurture their children. To that end, we have collaborated with several other local community providers to deliver our inaugural ‘Thriving Tamariki Pukekohe’ event on 28 August.

Featuring guest speaker, Nigel Latta, this free event focuses on teaching parents to build resilience and awhi to support strong, thriving tamariki. The event includes free childcare and a sausage sizzle, as well as local service stalls so parents can learn more about the support services available to them.

This event builds on our Kia Ora Ake hinengaro wellbeing programme, which has been successfully supporting tamariki in Franklin for years and continues to make a positive difference for those facing challenges. In fact, 62% of respondents in our recent survey reported that they feel their tamariki are doing better at school following their engagement with Te Whare.

Ngā mihi nui to ATWC, Oranui and the other providers who have joined Te Whare to make the community event possible. This is an amazing example of like-minded organisations working together with a shared mission – supporting whānau to flourish and tamariki to thrive.
