Te Whare Whānau Survey reinforces value of support

Strong impact, consistent support and positive outcomes delivered by Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri.

That’s the feedback from the latest Whānau Impact Survey, reinforcing the value of Te Whare’s support for whānau.

Chief Executive, Elizabeth Walker says despite a modest response rate, the findings provide meaningful insight into whānau experiences and areas of impact.
“Overall satisfaction is exceptionally high, with 98.7% of respondents indicating they would recommend Te Whare to other whānau, signalling strong trust, confidence, and advocacy.
“As a kaupapa Māori organisation it’s important that cultural connection remains a core strength – proudly, 80% of respondents report feeling more connected to their culture. This reinforces the importance of kaupapa Māori approaches in fostering identity, belonging, and wellbeing.
“Under the Stronger Whānau banner, most respondents reported improved confidence and ability to handle challenges (87%), alongside better overall life and whānau relationships. While improvements in whānau relationships were positive, the smaller increase suggests an opportunity for deeper, more intensive whānau-focused interventions.”
In other impact areas, Safer Communities outcomes showed notable gains, with whānau reporting safer homes, stronger relationships beyond the immediate whānau, and increased community connection.

The most significant improvements were seen in Thriving Tamariki, particularly tamariki doing better at school and feeling safer and more settled. This highlights Te Whare’s positive influence on long-term outcomes for children and rangatahi.
“Together, these themes demonstrate strong impact while also guiding future service development and evaluation priorities.”
